SQOD
Sensei Quote of the Day:
"You don't do aikido to learn how to do aikido — you do aikido to learn about the one who does aikido." (I hope I got that quote right).
I tried adding this thought to my mindset during the seminar in Cincinnati. Often in seminars I have a more shy approach (not socially, just on the mat), but, I thought that isn't what the one who learns about Aikido would do. I tried to stay right in the front row during the demonstrations and tried to bow into Yudansha and especially Chris sensei, Charlie sensei and Malory sensei whenever I could. It was exhausting! Exhausting!!!! But, it was also a relief. It took some of the dialogue out of my head. I was often looking to the bigger concept of Student of Aikido for my direction rather than the smaller concept of Pat's Particular Anxieties About Practicing Aikido. Refreshing (and did I mention exhausting?)
you got it.
